Laser Skin Treatment
Pre-Care
Be honest about revealing any condition that could prohibit this threatment such as Coldsores, pregnancy, use Roaccutane withinthe last 12 months
There are no guaranted results from this treatment. There are many variables such as age,sun damage ,smoking ,alcohol consumption ,diet, water intake etc.
In order to achieve the best success, please read the aftercare prior to your treatment. Please wear something comfortable that won't spoil as gel /cream may be used after the treatment.
Avoid active tanning for two weeks prior to your treatment.
Parocetomal may be taken one hour prior to treatment.
Have plenty of moisturiser available to apply after treatment. It is advisable to use an old pillowcase as the moisturiser will penetrate into the bedding if you don’t apply at least 1 hour before going to bed(for this reason we advise to use a baby moisturiser at night for the first few days).
Post Care
Avoid heat and do not apply make-up for at least 48-hours.
Stay out of the sunlight
Avoid heat , swimming, gym etc
Do not rub thee treated area with a towel
Keep the area clean to avoid infection
Following a skin resurfacing procedure, the treated area will look red, sore and swollen.
It is normal for the treated area to look slightly burnt and a few blistered areas may be visible. This is the healing process beginning to work and the recovery is very quick.
If the area is swollen(usually under the eye area and fluid sacks can be seen) gently massage the area this helps the fluid the drain and prop yourself at night this will stop the fluid from being trapped the next day. The swelling will subside within a few days.
Patients may experience some crusting as the skin begins to heal. If crusting is experienced, then the affected area may, very carefully be cleansed/soaked with cotton wool 50% vinager and tepid water. DO NOT attempt to dislodge or pick off any of these crusts, as the delicate new skin underneath will become scarred.
It is quite usual for the treated area to remain red for several weeks after the procedure. This is absolutely normal and is one of the positive signs that the laser skin treatment has worked. The redness is due to an increased number of blood vessels in the skin, which will help to keep it healthy in the future. Eventually the redness will fade.
This may take between six weeks and four months (in exceptional cases), and patients may initially benefit from the use of our L-ascorbic acid and glycolic acid products, which will help to reduce the duration of any redness.
To minimise the risk of pigmentation, it is extremely important that you use a sunscreen of SPF 30 for at least six months following laser skin treatment, to protect the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays. We advise the use of sun block, which is available from
Pro.med
clinics.
Remember it takes at least 3 months for the treatment results to be seen on the skin surface The best results are seen three to six after the laser skin treatment course has been completed .
